The Decision on the city water supply and sewage system, which was adopted at the last session of the Kruševac Parliament, a chapter on how to take over the use and management of rural waterworks by PUC "Vodovod - Kruševac" was included. It is about a water supply system in the Ribarski region that is supplied from local sources, which will now be owned by the City of Kruševac.
According to Sladjan Majstorović, director of the Economic Sector in PUC "Vodovod-Krusevac", the Decision regarding the takeover of rural waterworks , is a legal obligation, so that the population of all settlements in the territory of the City of Krusevac would have a healthy drinking water from the system that is kept in the functional and the clean condition.
Mr Majstorović reminded that the previous Decision on the City Water Supply and Sewerage was made in 2010, meantime the laws changed several times, and for this reason there were some changes that included the chapter related to the taking over of rural waterworks.
“According to the Law on Communal Activities, only local government can supply the entire territory of the municipality by drinking water. Local waterworks, which have so far been managed by Local Communities, are now owned by the City of Kruševac, and if PUC Vodovod could take over the system , it is necessary to fulfill the legally prescribed technical conditions - says Majstorović.
The Decision, as he explained, defines the obligations of the City of Kruševac and PUC Vodovod regarding the takeover of rural waterworks, where the City of Kruševac will have to provide a part of the financial resources in order to bring the system into the normal functioning phase.
“It is necessary, among other things, to rehabilitate the sources that are devastated in most of those settlements, to regulate the distribution system (pipelines) ... analysis what should be done are currently under review and when the system is brought into the normal functioning stage and when the Public Health Institute determines that the water is good for drinking, both bacteriologically and chemically, we can take over these rural waterworks, "he explains.
According to his words, PUC Vodovod's teams are already and currently circumambulate the Ribarski region, specifically the settlement of Ribare, the settlements of Vitača, Malo Krušince, Rosica, Zubovac and Grevci.
“From about 650 households, users of rural water supply systems in the Ribarska region, nearly 600 have been processed. A technical record has been done, all connections have been surveyed, as well as secondary network and reservoirs. After the repair of the failures, the signing of the Contract between PUC Vodovod and the City of Kruševac follows, and we hope that, by the end of this year, we will take over the management of rural waterworks in this region - says Majstorović, adding that conditions for the takeover of rural waterworks in Veliki Šiljegovec and Kaonik have not been fulfilled so far, but he hopes that PUC Vodovod will take over the management of these settlements in due time.
Otherwise, nearly 90 percent of the inhabitants at the territory of the City of Kruševac is currently being supplied by healthy drinking water from the central system of the source of the Lake Ćelije . The execution of works on the expansion of water supply systems in 14 settlements is underway, which will be supplied by healthy drinking water from the Lake Ćelije System in the next two years. After the completion of works in these settlements and taking over of rural waterworks in the Ribarska region, 101 settlements will have healthy drinking water , which is their total number in the area of the City of Kruševac.
